With its impressive archives, the Cinémathèque preserves and promotes international film heritage. In its screening room at Place du Théâtre, it organises retrospectives, as well as a wide range of special events devoted to the seventh art: film conferences, round tables, public youth projects, senior activities, film concerts, and festivals.

The Cinémathèque Luxembourg has been a member of the International Federation of Film Archives since 1983.
